Hey families I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. Please look over some important information as we come to the end of the year.

Chromebooks:

Please have your student begin returning their Chromebooks, chargers and cases tomorrow. Our technology department asks that they are returned no later than Friday June 4. Please look forward to more information regarding on Chromebooks for the summer.

Yearbooks:

There are still some yearbooks available for purchase in the office. The cost is $15 and can be paid for with case or a check made out to SJPS.

Chromebook Return:

It is time to begin the process of returning Chromebooks, chargers and cases. Your student can begin returning those items to our classroom on Tuesday June 1 and our technology department asks that they are returned no later than Friday June 4.
Please stay tuned for more information regarding how to access a Chromebook for summer use.

This week's learning:

Positivity Project (P2): This will be our last week of the Positivity Project. We will review some of the great character traits we have worked on throughout the year!

ELA: We will continue review reading skills this week working with cause and effect. We will also start practice with a few Greek Mythology Reader's Theater scripts that students will be performing for each other this week.

Math:  This week, we will continue our final unit of the year. Our lessons for the week are:

Monday: No School

Tuesday: I can use understanding of place value and properties of operations to solve puzzles.

Wednesday: Unit 8 Study Guide

Thursday: Review Day

Friday: Unit 8 Test

Science: This week, we will continue working on how to see electricity as a form of energy. Students will investigate how electrical energy requires a circuit and make their own mini flashlights from LEDs, button batteries, and strips of aluminum foil. Along the way, they’ll learn about the anatomy of a battery, begin to see how circuits work, and discover how handy an on-off switch can be.

Social Studies: This week we will continue learning about how our federal government is organized. Big ideas from these lessons are:

• The Framers of the Constitution were afraid of giving one group or one person in government too much power. 
• They limited the power of the federal government by separating or dividing power among three groups or branches of government.  
• The three branches are known as the legislative branch, the executive branch and the judicial branch.
• Each branch has a different function and its own special powers.

Homework:  Homework each week consists of reading 20+ minutes at home (this can be a library book, magazine, newspaper, online book, etc) and practicing multiplication and division facts 1 through 12. Mastering multiplication and division facts is vital to our learning this year.
