Daily Health Screening

Thank you for your continued adherence to our daily screening guide posted on our district website before sending your child to school. If he/she is exhibiting any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, they must stay home. We appreciate your help to finish the year safely together!
If someone in your home is awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, all students need to stay home from school until the results are in. Thank you for your attention to this.

Media Center News

Hi Brown School Families!  This week is the last week that the students can check out books from the Media Center.  In order to prepare for a book inventory, we need to have ALL books returned by the end of May. If your student has library books at home, please help them remember to return them ASAP.  The first class to have ALL of their books returned to the MC will be announced on the BEST News.  Also, the students will receive raffle tickets after they have returned ALL of their books to try to win a prize!  Thank you so much for your help.

This Week's Learning:

ELA&Writing:  As we start to wrap up the year we will continue reviewing our essential skills this week for ELA. Students will also perform their last reader's theater later this week!

Students will start to finish up their rough drafts of information writing this week!

Math: With our last unit many of our lessons in the unit revolve around mastery on skills we have worked on this year!

Our lessons for the week are:

Monday: I can find the area of rectangles using fractions and mixed numbers.

Tuesday: I can multiply fractions by whole numbers to solve number stories.

Wednesday: M-STEP Math Test

Thursday: I can solve number stories by converting decimals to fractions.

Friday: Catch-up Day

Science: This week in science we will continue our work with energy and how it is transferred and stored answering the question, "What if there was no electricity?"

Social Studies: We will continue our work on how our federal government is organized this week! Our focus will be on the division of power among the three branches, and limiting the power of the federal government. Big Ideas from the lesson are:
  • The people limit the power they delegate to the federal government through principles of separation of powers and checks and balances.

  • Government is also limited by ten amendments to the Constitution called the Bill of Rights.

  • The Bill of Rights serves to protect people’s individual rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to a trial by jury.

Have a great week!

Mr. Hernandez
