Thank you for your continued adherence to our daily screening guide posted on our district's website before sending your child to school. If he/she is exhibiting any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, they must stay home. It is imperative that we work together to safe safe so that we can stay together.
Outside Food & Drink
Unless your child is participating in our school's free breakfast option, please be sure breakfast meals and delicious drinks are finished before entering the building.
Just as in years past regarding outside food in our school's lunchroom, we continue to discourage bringing food & drinks from restaurants into our learning environment. Thank you for your help with this.

March is Reading Month and this year we are celebrating with a March Reading Madness tournament of books. When the teams battle for their spots in the final four, our kids will be

Writing: We will finish up our persuasive writing unit this week and will celebrate by sharing our stories with our class later this week!
Math: We will be moving ahead to Unit 6 with division and angles this week and return to Unit 5 later in the year.
Monday: 6-4: Dividing multi-digit numbers into parts as a method for division
Tuesday: 6-7 Practicing partial-quotients division to divide whole numbers with 3 and 4-digit dividends
Wednesday: 6-8 Exploring different ways to express and interpret remainders
Thursday: Lesson 6-5: Interpreting remainders and explaining solutions

Looking to extend your child's learning in math at home?
I highly recommend having them work on Khan Academy (we use this in class)! Students have access to the assignments that I've put onto Khan Academy for them (they use these during our math workshop time) and they can also work on their "course mastery." Khan Academy will continue to work them through 4th grade concepts and beyond (for those students who are ready to begin learning skills beyond the elementary level) and provides video explanations to help them work through the content. They also have courses to practice reading and language arts, computer programing (Pixar in a Box has historically been very popular with students in my classroom!), growth mindset, careers and much more!
Social Studies: This week we will be describing the geography of the United States. Big ideas from this lesson are:
-Geographers ask a variety of questions when investigating the geography of a place like the United States.
-To answer the question “Where is the United States located?” geographers use concepts such as relative location, continent, hemisphere, equator, and direction.
-To answer the question “What is it like there?” geographers investigate both the physical and human characteristics.
-To answer the question “How is it connected to other places?” geographers use the concept of region.
-By identifying common characteristics that bind several locations together, geographers can divide the United States into regions in many different ways.
-Special purpose maps that show particular characteristics of an area (such as elevation, climate, and population density) can be used to answer geographic questions about the United States.
Homework: Homework each week consists of reading 20+ minutes at home (this can be a library book, magazine, newspaper, online book, etc) and practicing multiplication and division facts 1 through 12. Mastering multiplication and division facts is vital to our learning this year.
