Calling All Bear Cubs! 

Young Five & Kindergarten Registration (pandemic style) is coming on February 25th! Visit sjschools.org to register for this drive-thru event at SJHS. Current Y5 & ECDD students do not need to attend. 

Please spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors who have a child that will be five years of age by September 1, 2021. We can't wait to welcome our new little bears!

 



Daily Screener
Thank you for your continued adherence to our daily screening guide posted on our district's website before sending your child to school. If he/she is exhibiting any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, they must stay home. It is imperative that we work together to safe safe so that we can stay together. 
 
 

Our annual Lego Night is going virtual!  Visit our Lego Night page for activities and to see the challenge - as with in-person Lego Nights, we have a variety of prizes available to win!  The last day to submit drawing entries is February 18th!


The cold, wintery weather is finally upon us! Thank you for sending your child prepared to safely enjoy the winter weather during  morning and afternoon recesses. As a reminder, labeling your child's winter gear is incredibly helpful. Thank you for your help with this! 

Learning this week

ELA:   This week in ELA we will continue on our work on summarizing and begin working on finding the authors purpose. We will work with a variety of text and analyzing pictures to find clues that can help us summarize the purpose of a text or picture.  Your student will also complete a word work quiz on the Latin and Greek root words we have been practicing the last several weeks.

Math:  We will continue with our multiplication unit and begin wrapping up by Monday of next week. Our unit 4 test is expected to be next week on Wednesday. Our math lessons for this week are:

Wednesday:4-12 solving multi-step problems and use estimates to assess the reasonableness of their answers

Thursday: 4-7 converting kilograms to grams

Friday: 4-4 converting liters to millilitres 

Please continue practicing multiplication facts daily.

Science: This week in science we will explore the structure and function of the eyes through the question, "How can some animals see in the dark?" Your student will do an experiment observing a peer's pupils and how eyes react with the change of light.
