Daily Wellness Check
Thank you for your continued commitment to attending to our daily health screening linked here. If your child is exhibiting symptoms, it is imperative that you keep him/her home until healthy. Thank you for your support with this.

We are SO EXCITED to begin our partnership with Positivity Project (P2) on November 23rd with the character strength "gratitude". Please be sure to check out their family site by clicking here

Our Scholastic Book Fair is virtual this year!

November 12th - 25th will be the Scholastic Virtual Book Fair.  While we are disappointed we can't host an in-person fair this year, we are excited about the ability to purchase great books while raising money for the Media Center.  We will have two weeks to order our books online. A percentage of the profits goes directly back to purchasing books for our school's media center.  Items that you order will be delivered directly to your homes, and if you purchase $25 or more in books, the shipping will be free! Information about how to order books through our Virtual Book Fair will be coming soon!

If you are interested in donating a book to our classroom library we have created virtual wishlists. Simply select our class then select the book(s) you would like to purchase. When you place your Scholastic order, add that book to your shopping cart, then deliver to your teacher when the book arrives. Click here to access the form.

Please look at the home-school connection below for some great activities to support your child's learning at home!

Home School Connection

Writing: We have been doing a fantastic job in our Imagined Narratives as we wrapped up our stories last week. This week will continue our editing process and begin our peer reviews. Each student has been working very hard to make a fantastic writing piece they are proud of.

Science: This week in science we will begin our new unit on the rock cycle and Earth's processes. Students are going to explore the past and present pattern of where volcanoes exist on earth. They will plot the various locations of volcanoes on a world map and analyze the patterns they may have, discovering the "Ring of Fire" around the Pacific Ocean.

Math: Students completed their Unit 1 assessment last Monday. Please keep an eye out for them next Friday when I return to the classroom. This week we will work with classifying numbers using their factors as prime or composite. We will also use multiplication strategies to determine and make predictions on various questions based on information provided. We will end the week with practicing conversion of units of time involved in number stories.

Have a great week!

Mr. Hernandez
